Stave Church Panel: Research Project

For the purpose of research for the stave church panel I went to Norway. I started in Oslo to see some of the cultural museums, and then went to Flam to see the nearby Borgund stave church and observe the local area and nature. I would then head to Bergen to see some more museums.

I felt it important to see the country of Norway before working on the stave church panel for my final project. I had never been to Norway before and thought that it was necessary to visit the location before working on this project. It is something hard to describe the impact of a place on the people who live there and the art they produce, my hope was that by seeing the area I could understand it better and that it would come out in the work i did on this project.

While it is hard to put exactly into words, I hope these pictures will show what I mean…
